February is National Children's Dental Health Month. Today students will use activities in computer class to learn about their teeth and how to keep their teeth healthy.
The Kindergarten class is learning about the states of matter - solids, liquids, and gases. Today they will have an opportunity to practice what they've learned about matter while reinforcing computer skills with some online activities.
Today students will have the opportunity to use Pixie software to draw a picture of a favorite polar animal that they have studied in the classroom. Students will also have the opportunity to explore a variety of tools in Pixie while creating drawings on the computer, and to create a text block so they can add their name and the chosen animal to their artwork. Below are some of the pictures created today in class.
Kindergarten students are learning about Polar Animals in their classroom. Today students will learn more about these interesting animals in computer class by watching videos. Students will practice how to make their videos "full screen", how to exit "full screen" mode, how to "play a video", how to "pause a video", and how to change the volume.
Today students will be making snowflakes using an online tool called Snow Flake Maker. This tool lets students use their mouse as a pair of scissors to "cut out" sections of virtual folded paper to create a beautiful virtual snowflake.
Today in computer class the kindergarten students will use some interactive computer math games as they practice counting and other math skills.
During December there is a special holiday version of Poisson Rouge that contains additional links to holiday-themed activities which are only available during this time of year. In class today, students will enjoy exploring these new interactive activities.
In celebration of Computer Science Education Week, this week our school will be participating in the Hour of Code (a global movement to introduce coding and computer science to students). Today in Kindergarten we will use iPads and introduce beginning coding concepts using the interactive iPad app shown below.
Today the students will use the computer to do some fun interactive activities that correspond with their classroom Gingerbread Man activities. This week the highlight will be baking and decorating gingerbread men and women! Today's online activities will help them to practice their math skills and reinforce mouse skills while enjoying activities centered on gingerbread.
Today the kindergarten class will use the computers to enjoy some interactive Thanksgiving games and activities. They are learning about the first Thanksgiving in their classroom and are looking forward to their Thanksgiving feast!
