During a recent classroom activity each first grade student identified something that they are curious about. Today in computer lab they will create a picture using Pixie software related to what they are curious about. Along with learning how to use the creative features of Pixie, they will learn how to create a text block and type their name and other information onto their picture.
Today students will use a fun interactive learning tool called Keyseeker to begin building their introductory keyboarding skills. Keyseeker helps the students recognize letters on a keyboard and prompts them to use the correct hand to strike the key. The keyboard is split into purple for left and green for right hand. The students use colored bands on their wrists to help remember which hand to use for the various letters.
Today students will gain knowledge about hyperlinks (and practice mouse skills, as well) while exploring a great interactive website called Poisson Rouge. The site includes fun activities that highlight a variety of interactive areas of exploration, including math skills, art, music, and multiple languages.
