The Kindergarten class is learning about the seasons and are glad to be celebrating Spring in their classroom. Today in computer class they will enjoy interactive online activities and games associated with Spring.
Today students will use a fun interactive learning tool called Keyseeker to begin building their introductory keyboarding skills. Keyseeker helps students recognize letters on a keyboard and prompts them to use the correct hand to strike the key. The keyboard is split into purple for left and green for right hand. The students use colored bands on their wrists to help remember which hand to use for the various letters.
This week marks the 113th anniversary of Dr. Seuss' birth. Since 1998, the National Education Association (NEA) has designated March 2 as Read Across America day. In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday this week and as part of our Grymes Book Week celebration, students will play educational games and learn more about Dr. Seuss' many books as they explore the website below.
February is National Children's Dental Health Month. Today students will enjoy activities in computer class to learn about their teeth and how to keep their teeth healthy.
Kindergarten students learned about the states of matter - solids, liquids, and gases - in their classroom. Today they will have an opportunity to practice what they learned about states of matter with some computer activities while reinforcing computer skills.
Today in kindergarten we will continue with our beginning coding concepts activities that were introduced during Hour of Code for Computer Science Education Week in December. Students will continue exploring with Kodable and then will try a new App called Puppy Adventure.
Kindergarten students are learning about Polar Animals in their classroom. Today students will learn more about these interesting animals in computer class by watching videos. Students will practice how to make their videos "full screen", how to exit "full screen" mode, how to "play a video", how to "pause a video", and how to change the volume.
Today in kindergarten computer class, students will continue practicing beginning coding concepts by using the fun coding App Kodable. This App was first introduced in class in December during our Hour of Code, and was very popular.
Kindergarten students will continue to celebrate snowflakes by designing their own with another online snowflake design tool SnowDays. The image below is an example of a snowflake created by this tool.
Today students will be making snowflakes using an online tool called Snow Flake Maker. This tool lets students practice their mouse skills by using their mouse as a pair of scissors to "cut out" sections of virtual folded paper to create a beautiful virtual snowflake.
