Today the students will create a math word problem using Pixie. Next week, they will answer their classmates questions.
This week the students will use Investigations in Math Shapes software to create a quilt square that they designed in math class. Each half of the class will have an entire period to create their quilt square. This is the culminating project for this unit.
We will continue to work with the Investigations in Math Shapes software. Today we will explore Quick Images where students look briefly at an image made up of one to several shapes on the right hand workspace (the image goes away). They then work to build a copy of the image in the workspace on the left hand side.
We will start a unit using the Shapes software provided with the Investigations in Math curriculum. Today we will use the Free Explore feature where the students will begin to learn how to: Add shapes, move, flip and turn them, change their color, and erase them. Note: This is not a web application, but rather software that comes with the Investigations Math curriculum which has been installed on the school computers. We will start the class by reviewing how to hold a mouse properly.
The class will review the keyboard by doing an activity called Keyseeker which is an interactive learning tool to help kids recognize letters on a keyboard and use the correct hand to strike the key. The keyboard is split into purple for left and green for right hand. I'll have bands on their wrists to help them remember. Welcome to computer class. The first grade will come to Computer Class once a week. Each half of the class will come for half a period. Miss Mikayla will be assisting with the class. Today we'll be covering:
