For the past two weeks we've been playing Word Bingo and having a blast. What could be better than collecting "word bugs" and flinging them?
First grade students are getting ready for the annual Thanksgiving Feast. Today students will do an activity using Pixie in which they correctly identify different articles of clothing worn by Pilgrims. They will use "click and drag" with the mouse to complete the activity and type their name.
Today students will use the computer to duplicate the quilt square designs that they created in math class by using the Investigations in Math Shapes software. Look for their beautiful quilt designs in the Gallery.
The class will continue to work with the Investigations in Math Shapes software. Today we will explore Quick Images in an activity where students look briefly at an image made up of shapes on the right hand work space before the image goes away. They then work to build a copy of the image in the work space on the left hand side from memory.
Today first grade will start a unit using the Shapes software provided with the Investigations in Math curriculum. This is not a web application, but software that comes with the math curriculum installed on the school computers. The Shapes software helps children develop their ability to visualize shapes and motions, and the affects of those motions, and to begin to think about the attributes of shapes. Today we will use the Free Explore feature in which the students learn how to select and manipulate shapes and patterns including adding, moving, flipping, turning, changing color, and erasing shapes.
