This week marks the 114th anniversary of Dr. Seuss' birth. Since 1998, the National Education Association (NEA) has designated March 2 as Read Across America day. In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday this week and as a part of our Grymes Book Week celebration, students will play educational games and learn more about Dr. Seuss' many books as they explore the websites below.
Today the first grade students will continue to explore maps, map skills, and map symbols using interactive National Geographic map games for children. Students are learning about Ancient Egypt in first grade, and the Explore a Pyramid will give students an opportunity to explore the inside of a pyramid while guiding a robot.
Today the students will be using Pixie to finish their Snowflake Poem project. They will practice changing the way the "text" of their poem looks by changing the font style and color of the text. Each student wrote a cinquain poem about snowflakes in class. This poem has been added to a snowflake picture they created during computer class. Below is an example of what they will be starting with and the result after making changes to the text.
