This week marks the 114th anniversary of Dr. Seuss' birth. Since 1998, the National Education Association (NEA) has designated March 2 as Read Across America day. In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday this week and as a part of our Grymes Book Week celebration, students will play educational games and learn more about Dr. Seuss' many books as they explore the websites below.
Today second grade students will have an opportunity to continue practicing their beginning coding skills. They will continue using Lightbot, Kodable, Puppy Adventure, and have a chance to experience other introductory coding activities on the Code.org website.
Today in computer class we will talk about the computer "file" system and how to find their personal work folder when in class. We will also discuss how to use "save" and "save as." Using a template in their file, they will work on a Fun With Fonts activity using features for text in Microsoft Word. They will systematically change the way fonts look including use of bold, italics, underline, font size, color, justify, and changing fonts. They will also practice saving the changes they make to the document in their personal folder.
