With the color by number activity we can gradually increase our facility of numbers without dependencies. We practice both colors and numbers independently and separate from each other first, then both in combination. Then with rapidly changing cards.
Sure, it's a game, but it teaches attentional focus (when reacting to only one of many elements on a page) then how to react in a dissociative, reactionary state when responding to a multitude of images in a randomized context. We do activities like this often and with varying thematic combinations. For example we eventually get to 4 x 3 grids with toys and foods that students recite from sight (thought). Below is the workbook that we use in 2nd grade Spanish. We do not do every page in this book, but it is useful in assuring we cover the fundamentals. There are many other study materials that we create ourselves that are more specific to the video stories and books that we enjoy.
