In preparation for the celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday next week, the students will be exploring an interactive site filled with Dr. Seuss activities during their computer class today.
Today students will have the opportunity to use Pixie software to draw a picture of a favorite polar animal that they have studied in the classroom. Students will also have the opportunity to explore a variety of tools in Pixie while creating drawings on the computer, and can learn to create a text block so they can add their name to their artwork. Below are some of the pictures created today in class.
Kindergarten students are learning about Polar Animals in their classroom. Today students will learn more about these interesting animals in computer class by watching videos. Students will practice how to make their videos "full screen", how to exit "full screen" mode, how to "play a video", how to "pause a video", and how to change the volume.
Kindergarten students will continue to celebrate snowflakes by designing their own with an online snowflake design tool. The image below is an example of a snowflake created by this tool.
Today students will be making snowflakes using an online tool called Snow Flake Maker. This tool lets them use their mouse as a pair of scissors to "cut out" sections of virtual folded paper to create a beautiful virtual snowflake.
Today in computer class the kindergarten students will use some interactive computer math games as they practice counting and other math skills.
Today students will continue to develop mouse skills and knowledge of hyperlinks while exploring a great interactive website called Poisson Rouge. The site includes fun activities that highlight a variety of interactive areas of exploration, including math skills, art, music, and multiple languages.
This week is Computer Science Education week. The kindergartners will be participating in our school's "Hour of Code" by coding with an iPad app called Kodable. They will be introduced to using iPads in the computer lab today while playing Kodable. Today the students will use the computer to do some fun interactive activities that correspond with their classroom Gingerbread Man activities. Yesterday the highlight was baking and decorating gingerbread men and women! These online activities will help them to practice counting and other math skills, and reinforce their mouse skills while enjoying activities centered on gingerbread.
Today the kindergarten class will use the computers to enjoy some interactive Thanksgiving games and activities. They are learning about the first Thanksgiving in their classroom and are looking forward to their Thanksgiving feast!
