This is a fun little project to teach kids about how to work with objects at different layers in Microsoft PowerPoint. They learned about the terms objects and layers. They learned how to bring an object forward and to the front, as well as move an object backwards or to the back. Students were asked to recreate the image in the upper left hand corner on the first two activities and create a face for the third. Then they were asked to save it in their personal folders under the name "layers" and their name.
The students will be working on their Literary Magazine pieces. They can use Pixie, PowerPoint, Haiku Deck, or Recite This. They have never used Recite This before. It's an application that takes your text and puts it in a fun format. Students can use a combination of applications. Students will learn how to copy and paste their text from one application to another.
The students worked in teams. Each team put a slide together for their Earth Day presentation. They used Microsoft PowerPoint and learned how to create a background (image or solid) and how objects are layered. They learned how to send something to the back or bring it forward. They also learned how to copy slides from one presentation to another by copying their slide from their file to the group presentation.
Each third grader created their own font set. They will use their own fonts in Microsoft PowerPoint to write their poems.
