One warm summer day I was walking my bloodhound named Lucy down the street. After 10 minutes of walking Lucy, we saw a big black bull dog with a little bit of white on her face. When I went to go look back at the dog, the bull dog looked a lot like Zeus. I knew what Zeus looked like because in school we were just learning about him. I was really freaked out. I took another look at the dog, and it looked normal. I decided to just take one more look at the dog. All of a sudden it looked like Zeus again. Then I felt queasy and really, really dizzy. I was very scared about what was going to happen. Then the bulldog turned into a black hole. The black hole just sucked me and my dog in really fast. There was no turning back.
When I woke up from passing out, I saw that I was in a Theatre. When I looked over, there was a really big audience staring at me. There was shouting over me like they were mad at me. I decided to get up. I am “IN A PLAY, “I YELLED!!
Everybody was laughing and saying she is the main character and she doesn’t even know her lines. “Ha!Ha!” I was Sophocles’ wife. I didn't know what to do at all. I stood there and when it was my turn I did not do anything. They thought that I knew what to do but I didn’t. I felt like a complete idiot. They thought that I knew what to do because I looked like the character that was playing Sophocles’ wife. Everybody started laughing. Then I started to get really mad. After a while that I was standing there somebody was whispering the words in my ear. To tell the truth it really tickled. I have really good memory so after he whispered the words to me I started to say the words. I felt a little better saying the words, then me just standing their doing nothing. To me the words really did not make any sense. Then I thought for a minute and I knew I was in Greece so it was probably in Greek.
After the play was over I got off the stage very quickly and ran off to go find my dog Lucy. I called, and called, and called for Lucy. I stood there for 30 minutes just calling for her. I got really scared. If I lost her then my life would be very, very miserable.I didn’t know what else to do. Then all of a sudden I smelt this skunky, dirty, and musky smell. I knew that it had to be my dog. I just knew it. I knew that it was my dog Lucy because she loves to go in the creek by my house. She goes in the creek every single day. Then after I called Lucy one more time I saw this brown thing run out of a really old building. The building was very old, and it looked like it was built a long time ago. She was whining because she wanted to see me. I was really happy when I saw her, and I knew that she was really happy to see me too. I felt so much better after that.
The theatre was really pretty. It was set up so beautiful. The theatre was set up for play’s, festivals, and competitions. Sophocles and Euripides are the writers and Actors of their own plays. Dionysus’ theatre was literally the middle of the social life. Most of the Greek people would go there and would talk and watch the play and the Festivals. The Greek people really loved to go there and talk to eachother. Everybody was so amazed the Dionysus’ Theatre was so big. In 326 B.c. his Theater was expanded, and renovated. When the construction was over with the Theatre was able to sit 17,000.
When Lucy and I were walking down the street that was called Sophocles road, Lucy saw another dog and it was really small. I didn’t know what type of dog it was, but I think it is a chihuahua. I was scared because if Lucy would run after her then I knew that that dog would be dead in one second. I was thinking in my head that she better not want to go run after her. My dog Lucy loves to go and chase after things or even other dogs.
As we were walking down the street we saw a lot of dogs. There were more dogs than I thought there would be. My dog was acting really good and not chasing other dogs surprisingly.
When we came across the big bulldog that we had seen before, Lucy started to bark really, really loud. Her bark even scared me and I was her owner. She had a very deep bark, then after she would bark she would snarl really deep to. I knew that it had to be the bulldog that sucked my dog and I in. The dog looked scarier than before. Then I felt really dizzy and it felt like the world was spinning. I knew the dog dog would become a black hole again. Then when I went to go look at the dog it turned into a black hole. The black hole sucked Lucy and I in and when we transported back to my house I was back in bed, even covered up with the blankets. That really freaked me out. Lucy was on the bed with me lying peacefully asleep.
My Trip to the Roman Bath
By Haley Jo
One day it was the big softball game. This was our last game that determined if we went to the state championship. It was last inning. There were 2 outs. I walked out of the dugout. Everyone was cheering saying, “GO HALEY, HIT THAT BALL!” I stepped up to the plate, and sighed. The catcher gave a sign to the pitcher. The coach told me, “Watch the first pitch.” I must have watched it a little too hard. The ball came and hit me in my head. I got knocked out.
When I woke up I heard people talking in different languages. I was in a bath with people watching me. I said, “oh no my uniform its all dirty.” Suddenly I was speaking that language I was wearing different clothes different everything. I know what they were talking about, then my mind got all these facts in my mind. I swam out of the pool or whatever this is. When I got out of the pool people were saying, “hurry up, you need to tell these people about the roman bath”. First I didn’t know what she was talking about then these facts came in my head. I was saying “ the roman baths are attractions to the tourist, you also don’t touch the water or drink or bathe it because, it carries diseases.” The bath was built in 60 or 70 ad. The water comes from a hot mineral spring they only have 1 hot mineral spring. The spring was built over the next 300 years. i said do you have any questions a little girl raise her hand i called on her “why aren’t you speaking in their language”. i said i'm just a tourist like you are and you wouldn’t understand me”. As we walked on to see the roman bath everyone gasped.” I said the romans built a heating system to keep the water warm.” Then I glowed and clothes were changing and the wind was picking up and i got blown into the bath and I sunk to the bottom and when i came back up I was laying on the ground and people were surrounding me saying, “are you okay and i said im ready to hit. As everyone went back to the dugout i stood up and everyone in the crowd clapped, and i got my bat and stepped up to the plate. I patted my bat on the ground the pitcher pitchED the ball and i swung and it went over the fence the announcer said a home run they're going to the state championships. As i ran around the bases my team waiting at home plate. Cheering me to come home.

Diocletian’s Palace
By Ian
One day, I was sleeping. I was having a wonderful dream about tiger riding when my tiger suddenly bolted. I raced after it, and I found myself in Ancient Rome. This had never happened in my dreams, and I wanted to find my tiger. Suddenly everything was flashing. I woke up, to see my brother flashing the lights.
“Wake up!” Nile yelled. “It’s Monday.”
“Where’s a tiger when I need one.” I thought to myself. As I struggled to stay awake, I went to the bathroom to splash water on my face. I looked at the mirror and remembered that my parents got a new mirror for me. I looked at it and splashed my face. It did not help. When I was about to brush my teeth, I suddenly became dizzy and my head hit the new mirror. Instead of breaking it, my head went right through it!
When my head went through the mirror, I caught a glimpse of the vast space of Diocletian’s Palace! I pulled my head out of the mirror. I thought I was just hallucinating and it was some kind of a crazy dream. I tried to brush my teeth again and I did it. When I was getting out of my bathroom to change out of my pajamas, a vortex of wind erupted from the mirror to suck me back in. I was grasping the door to get away from the vortex, when it suddenly became stronger. My legs were now flapping in the wind gusts. I couldn’t take it any more! I let go of the door and was sucked into the swirling silver mass.
When I opened my eyes, I was sprawled on the frigid floor of a palace. I stood up and looked at myself. I was now dressed in a roman chiton. Then I heard voices outside. I followed the voices into a courtyard. I saw many people in the courtyard. They were romans but I could understand them! They were having a resignation ceremony for their emperor called Diocletian.
“Wait! Diocletian was an emperor in ancient Rome! How is he still alive? I must have time traveled when I went through the mirror! If he is Diocletian, this must be Diocletian’s Palace!” I said. Everybody looked at me for a few seconds. Then they shrugged and went on with the ceremony.
“Diocletian.” A voice said. “You will be the first roman emperor to resign voluntarily. Are you sure you want to do this?”
“Yes!” Diocletian yelled. “ I get to live in a 31,000 square meter house!”
“Then let it be done. Diocletian is no longer our ruler.” The same voice said. His last words brought tears to all of the guest’s eyes. Diocletian walked out of the courtyard. I needed to follow him. I walked up to him. I tapped him on the shoulder.
He said, “Have you been stalking me since I left the temple to Jupiter in the courtyard? Intruder!” Guards raced to his side. I did the most logical thing: I ran.
I ran and ran until my legs could not take it anymore. I took a break in a library. I figured that if I wanted to get back home, the answer would be in a book. It turned out that all of the books were about Diocletian. I looked for answers in a book about him and his palace. I learned that Diocletian’s Palace is a city. It was made completely out of limestone and marble. The most important part was about Diocletian’s sceptre. It is said to have magical powers.
“Maybe I can use that to get home!” I thought aloud. Suddenly the doors burst open. It was Diocletian and his guards! Diocletian was carrying his sceptre! I came out of my hiding spot with my hands in the air. When the guards were about to grab me, I ducked under their arms, grabbed Diocletian’s sceptre, and ran under his legs. I raced to where I had found myself in Diocletian’s Palace. I whacked myself on the head and knocked myself out.
When I woke up, I was back in my bathroom, wearing my pajamas. No time had passed at all!
“That was not as fun as I thought it would be.” I said. That’s the truth.

Pompeii
By: Reese
Once, on a bright night in the Tyrrhenian sea, a battleship was on patrol. The battleship, the USS Wisconsin, is captained by the smartest kid in the world, me! (I don’t mean to brag, though.) As I was saying, I was on patrol in the Tyrrhenian sea, and I was talking to my first officer “...and we need to raise engine efficiency by 10%--”
THWUMP!
Falling…
Falling…
Falling…
Falling…
Falling…
BOOM!!!
I stood up, dazed. There were alarm klaxons going off everywhere. BONG! BONG! BONG! “Number one!” I shouted hoarsely, “Damage report! Sound general quarters!” About a minute of dazed blurs later, I hear there is no threatening damage to the huge ship. I look at the gyrocompass, spinning. The GPS, nothing!
Before the ship was set out anew, it had been retrofitted with tech from 2015. I got out an old chart from the table and went to the plotting room. The ship was then at full GQ. My navigations officer, Lieutenant Commander Barnes, was already plotting a solution to the chart, and found out we were much at the same bearing as we were, 40 44’40.50” N, 12 26’46.20” E, Just south of the Circeo Terrace islands, and northeast of the Hadrian Seamount. I checked the atomic clock built into the helm, 00:00! I had to see the date. I instantly knew that calendars were obsolete. “Number one, plot a course, 020 and at Isola Ventotene... adjust course to 165 and hold until depth under the keel reaches 40 meters, then dispatch four motorboats. I will be on one, and I alone will go onshore.” Soon, a security compliment was assembled offshore. I took a whaleboat by myself in civilian clothing to the shore. I immediately noticed a small Roman-era town, and a HUGE VOLCANO OVER THE TOWN! From history, I knew this town had to be Pompeii!
I HAD TIME TRAVELED!
I took the whaleboat back to the ship in a panic along with my guards, and on the ship, I tried to figure out what the heck happened.
“In our current position,” I silently mused to myself, “We should of time traveled at near 07:34 pm. That means, most likely two days from now, it will open again!” I jumped up at the thought, but I wanted to explore Pompeii. I decided to go again.
Finally, on the shore, I was alone in civilian clothes, walking to the doomed town. when I got there, I instantly noticed everyone was going about their daily business, without a care in the world. Then, one lady, about 20, came up to me and said in ancient roman: “Tu chi sei? Da dove vieni? (Translation: “Who are you? Where did you come from?) “Why are you dressed differently?” “So many questions” I said, “but, first, I am from the city of Roma, and that is why you haven’t seen me at all, and also the reason I am dressed differently.” I walked on, a little delirious of the time, but my watch was still working, 14:35 military time, 2:35! Afternoon! I decided to stay until evening, because tomorrow there wouldn’t be a town.
The next day…
Today was the big day, and a lot of people were going to take their last breath today. I got on the loudspeaker, and said sadly “Today, at approximately 09:20 am, Mount Vesuvius will erupt, and thousands of people will die, and we can do nothing. We will watch it erupt, and assess the damage. That is all.”
Everybody then went about their daily business, with ashen faces, waiting for the fateful hour. At 9:35, a thundering BOOM! resounded in the ship. Then,
FWOOOOM!
The eruption had begun.
By then the tension in the ship snapped. Everybody went out onto the deck like tourists seeing a breaching whale. One woman, an ensign, screamed. People in Pompeii were running, and I ordered everyone back into the ship. The booms still resounded inside until the eruption stopped at 13:50 military time, 1:50. I then took a whaleboat out with gasmasks on to explore what was a town. THE TOWN WAS COVERED IN 6 FEET OF ASHES! People still rested in burned homes, suffocating to death. I couldn’t take it after a while. At 1900 sharp, 7:00, I went back to the ship to go back to my original bearings, where we first time traveled. At 7:34 pm, I said on the intercom “All hands, brace for impact!”
THWUMP!
Falling...
Falling...
Falling...
Falling…
Falling…
Falling…
Falling…
Falling…
BOOM!
The falling seemed longer this time, and the impact was harder. I wasn’t as hurt, though, because we were prepared, but our engines were knocked out, and main gun 1 was out of action, but the ship survived, and the GPS was back on, as was the gyrocompass. But alarm bells never change, “BRRRRRRING! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BONG! BONG! BONG!” I hit the button to turn them off. “BEEP! BEEP! BERRROOOOoooo! Pshhhhhhhhh!” I also went to the radio room and told the ensign, “Send out a request for help, and don’t tell them what happened, tell them…. a piston broke and we are dead in the water.” I said, Then, to my engineer, “Break piston 39, if you will!” I thought to myself, At least it’s all done!
Trojan War
Braden Holliday
On a sunny day in Washington D.C. I was in a hotel swimming in a pool. When I went out I went to the hot tub, to rest my tired legs. The next ten minutes, I heard a loud sucking sound. I went to the pool, and I started to get sucked in. I held on as hard as I could, but it just got stronger and stronger. My mom came in to try save me, but it was too late. I was sucked in.
When I stood up, an arrow flew past me with a swoosh. I ran to the nearest rock, and I hid behind it. A man was running away from an arrow that was about to hit him. He was strong, tall, and muscular. He almost killed me by stepping on me.
I said as loud as I could “STOP!!.”
The man looked down at me and said, “Who are you?”
I said, “My name is Braden and who are you?”
The man said, “I am Odysseus, the best warrior there is.”
BANG
“What was that?” I said with a squeal.
“That was one of our cannons. It at least killed 20 trojans,” Odysseus said in a loud deep voice.
“Cool,” I said.
That night I was talking with Odysseus about how to defeat the Trojan army. When it was 8:00 p.m. Odysseus said,“ I got it!”
“What is it?” I said when I was half awake. “The Trojan horse. The Trojans love horses,” Odysseus said happily.
The next day Odysseus told the Greeks to hide by the shore until they saw the signal. I hopped in the horse with Odysseus, and we started to rolling into the walls of troy, they had to take down a wall to get the horse inside the walls. That night, we got out of the horse, a man went to the walls of Troy and gave the signal. The Greeks started to run to the walls. It was easy because half of the wall was broken. I was following Odysseus, with no weapon. A man wasn’t looking so I twisted his head, and he died. I got his sword, armor, and shield and I went to the left and I killed at least 210 Trojans. It was a blood bath. About 40 years later Alexander the great visited Troy, to pay respect to Achilles.
After the war, I was up top of the walls of Troy and I fell. I woke up with my dog on my belly. That day I asked my mom to take me to see Troy, and she said sure. We got on the plane and went to Troy when we got their the man said that the walls were thousands of years old, and they still stand today. From that day on I loved Troy for the rest of life.
Author's note
I wrote this story because the greeks were very good soldiers. This is a true story that happened. It was very fun to write this. Hope you liked it.
Lindsay's travel into history
By Lindsay
One bright and sunny day I was outside playing with my baby cousin. He got tired so we came inside to eat dinner, get showers, and then go to bed. After I ate dinner I went in the bathroom to get a shower. But something very strange happen. When I was in the shower everything started to spin around! What was happening? When I looked up the next thing I knew I was being sucked into my shower drain!
I woke up at the Roman baths! What? How did that happen? Well it seemed now none of that mattered, because everybody was asking me questions, so I didn’t have time to think. A girl by the name of Anna, came up to me and told me to get in the Roman baths. So took off my cloths, or the little I had left. Then I jumped in!
When I got in it felt like heaven on earth. The only bad thing was, was that u did NOT have privacy! I was so in love with the hot water and coziness, I forgot I had to clean myself. After I was in there for about 20 minutes, a whole group of big men came to get in. Where have they been? When I asked them they said they had been working out.
Even though I knew I couldn’t stay long, I wanted to get my times worth in there. So I went to the caldarium part of the baths, which are the hottest parts. Then I went to use the bathroom and I bumped into a guy name Caleb. He told me that the baths were 640 kilometers long, from where the water is stored. Then my nose felt a little runny, so I walked back to the baths to get in, because they say the baths are the cure for all illnesses. It turns out Caleb was sitting beside me in the pool. Was he following me?
After I got a little tired of the baths, I wanted to get out, so I did. Caleb got out too! Then he asked me if I wanted to go on a tour of Rome. I had nothing to lose, so I said yes. When we got our clothes on, we started walking out in the city of Rome. After I had seen the amazing views and beautiful sites, he said he saved the best place for me to tour last. So I told him to take me there! He said Okay! When we got there I was shocked! We were at the king’s palace! He said come on, lets go inside so I can take you on a tour. I told him we were not allowed to go inside, it was the king’s palace nobody is. He said I live in their I can do whatever I want to, let’s go.
So I just followed him, asking no questions. But I was thinking to myself…...What? After we toured and saw all the amazing marble floors and very tall walls, I asked him why he lived there. He said “ well, I am the king’s son! “ As soon as he said that, everything started shaking! I had a feeling I was being transferred back. Yes! I was! When I got back everything was just like it was when I left.
A Trip Inside History
By Ben
One warm summer day, I was on a canoe trip with my family. My dog Hank had come along. My dad and I shared a canoe with Hank. My sister got splashed as we went through rapids. My family all got on to the riverbank to cheer her up. Right as I stood up to get Hank out of the canoe, I slipped and our canoe slid down the riverbank. The only problem was that Hank and I were in it! Hank barked and I yelled for help. Luckily I had a backpack with a pocket knife, scissors, wire, string, a survival guide and a first aid kit. I looked at my watch.11:06. Suddenly the canoe tipped over and Hank was dumped out. I reached for his scruff and pulled him out. Without warning, a branch struck my head and I heard Hank yelp like he was hit too. I was knocked out.
Everything was a blur. I soon felt Hank licking my face. Then I heard him growl and men’s voices. Before I knew it, I was on a bed in a tent. I got up and asked where I was. A gruff man told me that I was in Hadrian’s Wall. We learned about Hadrian’s Wall in 5th grade last year. We also studied Rome. A tall man said that I had to be the messenger! I wanted to go outside to see my surroundings. I saw the huge walls and asked the man what happened. He told me that I was found in a wooden boat with my dog. I was introduced to a boy my age. He was the other messenger. Over the next couple hours, we became friends. We set out to set up tents for warriors. The messenger told me that the wall took 6 years to build. He also told me that the construction started in 122 AD. I asked for his name and he told me that his name was Augustus.
I was soon put in a uniform and I tried to figure out how I got there. I asked Augustus if I could go to the river. He nodded. Augustus seemed very nervous. When Hank and I arrived at the river, I saw the canoe. Suddenly I heard a battle cry. I grabbed Hank’s collar when I saw the Scottish tribes charging at me. Then the leader got his sword and jumped off his horse. Hank whined and we jumped into the canoe. The Scottish leader tried to slash us. I threw my scissors and they helplessly fell in the water. He let off an ugly cackle and grabbed Augustus who had tried to get help. The water splashed us and the canoe rushed downriver. I stopped it and we jumped onto the bank. I ran through the thickets and watched the enemy take Augustus away. I studied the wall and saw about 500 of the 9,000 soldiers that garrisoned the wall firing arrows at the path of the Scotland tribe.
I told the leader of the soldiers what happened. “It is hard to defend every part of the 73 miles that go from the north of England to the North Sea.” he quoted. I couldn’t believe what he said. They were just going to let Augustus die! This was unacceptable. I realized that I had to save Augustus. Just then I remembered that I was trapped in Hadrian’s Wall! I had to get out of there!
Hank and I got into the canoe and paddled off to find Augustus. I heard a man with a Scottish accent. The river started to widen and I saw the tribe sneaking over the wall with Augustus on their back! I yelled for the soldiers. Hank let out a loud bark. The tribe looked surprised to see me and Augustus looked mind blown. I thought the tribe was returning him but Augustus yelled for help. Soon about 900 soldiers attacked the tribe. Their was lots of screaming and rage. Arrows flied in my direction. Augustus took cover in a thicket. Suddenly the river quickened and I was hurled at the wall. I grabbed a sword and ran for the canoe. Then a man about the height of my dad charged me with a raised sword. I deflected it with a mighty crash. He looked surprised to see that an 11 year old had deflected his attack. He came in for another charge. I ran away into a bush. The tough soldier slashed the nearest bush with his sharp sword. I looked in my backpack and saw my wire so I tripped the soldier and he face planted into the thicket. I realized that Hank was missing. I called his name and he was chasing a man holding some pork. I grabbed him and we retreated to the camp.
Augustus thanked us gave me a carved piece of wood. It had a bow and arrow on it.I thanked him. It was hard to do this with the battle raging next to us. We had to constantly dodge flaming arrows. Hank and I returned to the canoe and we paddled upriver, away from the war. Suddenly a storm silenced the war. The waves pushed the canoe back and forth. It toppled over. Hank barked and my head went blank. When I woke up I felt Hank moving beside me. When I got up in the canoe I saw that I was at the river. I checked my watch. 11:09. I paddled the canoe upriver and my family was very worried. I was finally safe. My dad was downriver coming up the bank. He was very happy to see me. When we got in the car, I felt the wood carving in my pocket.

I Travel to Mount Olympus
By Nia
One day I woke up and my dad said that we were going to Greece for a week (educational purposes). I got right out of bed and hugged my dad with all my might, and then thanked him 1,000 times. He showed me the plane tickets and then I knew he wasn't kidding but there weren't just two there were three!
“Oh I forgot to tell you you can bring a friend and you get to choose which one.” Then I thought of course I’m going to bring Grace she’s always wanted to go to Greece.
“Dad I’ll bring Grace”
“Ok I’ll contact her right away”
“Thanks dad”
On the way to the airport Grace, my dad and I were so excited. When we finally got there getting on the plane wasn’t quite as hectic as I thought it would be. Finally we were on the plane and we were ascending. Grace and I were sitting right next to each other when the plane went through a rough patch and I felt like I was going to barf. I screamed, Grace did too and then we were in the middle of a street dressed in togas.
“That was awesome!” Grace said.
“Tossing your cookies is fun to you?”
“HaHa very funny.”
“Looks like we have more important things to deal with like where are we!” we looked around and saw that we were in an ancient greek city-state we went to go look at a billboard is said date: June 3rd 237 b.c.
“Oh dear, we’ve traveled back in time.” We both turned around and looked at a 2,914 foot tall mountain. Its peak is called Pantheon
“I think were at the foot of mount Olympus.” I said “Well looks like we should climb it.”
As we started ascending the mountain it seemed to get harder and harder as we went along. When we finally got to the top there were words in Greek, and I could read them! It said, “You are now entering Olympia.”
“What does that mean?” Grace asked.
“You can read it too?”
“Yeah!”
“Well I guess we should just keep walking.” When we passed the message written in the dirt, the floor turned into marble and there was an exquisite building in front of us. I was educated enough with Percy Jackson books to know that we were in Olympia.
When we first walked in, I wondered how we got into Olympia. If we were just regular mortals we weren’t supposed to be able get in. The place was absolutely stunning. there were 12 golden thrones, each specialized to represent the god that sat there. Zeus’ chair had two crossed lightning bolts at the foot of his chair. Poseidon had a trident on each leg of his chair.
“Well if the gods aren't in the throne room then where are they?” I said
“Lets explore the rest of the palace to see if they are here.”
“Ok that sounds like a good idea.” we walked along a corridor and heard laughing, not regular laughing like “haha” laughing,it was falling- off- you -chair- kind of laughing. We saw a satyr in front of the two huge double doors. He saw us and his face turned pale.
“Hello, Mathaxia.”
“What?” I replied
“Oh you don’t know?” the satyr said, now I was really confused. Then he opened the doors, and the gods fell silent. They weren’t huge like I thought they would be they looked like regular sized adults.
“Um.. hello” I said.
“How did you get up here?” Zeus said
“Long story short, I got sucked through a portal and I climbed mount Olympus.” Zeus looked shocked.
“I need to have a little talk with you.” We walked through another set of doors and into a room with a small table and two chairs.
“Please sit,” he said, I sat down.
“I knew this would have happened sooner or later.”
“I am so confused about this whole thing”
“I know you are,” he said
“Your mother brought you here”
“What?”
“Your mother is Artemis”
“What!” The last sentence just shocked me I wonder why I never knew before
“I am 14 years old I can’t believe no one told me.”
“Gods and goddesses aren’t aloud to have any contact with their children.”
“That is so unfair,”
“Your mother thought so too,” he said “and your friend, her mother is Demeter”
“Ok”
“Lets go back out to the game room, the other gods will be wondering where we are. I’ll let you talk this out with your mother.” As we walked back down the corridor I had never felt so shocked in my life we got back into the other room I ran up to Artemis/mom and said
“Why didn’t you visit?”
“I wasn’t allowed too” she said, “but I’m glad you’re here.” I looked over my shoulder and saw that Grace was saying hi to Demeter.
“You must listen carefully you face a hard choice stay up here with the gods or go back down to the mortal world.” I had to think for a while and finally I said
“I think I’ll stay up here, I said on one condition all my friends get to visit whenever they want, deal?”
“Deal.” And after I had the chat with my mom the time went back to normal like a swoosh of air rushing past you like it had an important errand to run.
And I lived happily ever after and somewhere along the way Zeus granted me immortality so I also lived forever.

Parthenon
By Grace
One day I was walking my dog, and my brother was playing football with his friends. When out of nowhere I got hit in the head with a football. I wake up in Greece, then I realize that I am in front of the beautiful, amazing, well sculpted, golden, glowing, and historical Parthenon!
I never had thought that I would be in Greece, most importantly at the Parthenon! I love the Parthenon. It has my favorite Greek Goddess named Athena. I was her for Greek God and Goddess day. Getting back on track, I had done some research, and The Parthenon was the most favorite surviving site in Greece. I went up to one of the Greek People and said “Hi, can you help me?”
He said, what did you say, but in Greek. Luckily I took Greek last year, so I know what he said. But I should get an interpreter just in case I run into someone that doesn't speak Greek or English.
I walked around the beautiful and stunning Parthenon. There was a tall man that was giving tours. He looked at me, as if saying why are you ahead of the group? I got in the pack of greeks. The man said a whole lot of interesting facts about the Parthenon. My favorite one was the Parthenon was also used as a christian church. The man walked around the Parthenon 5 times really fast. I got so dizzy I fell backward and crashed into the Parthenon. I woke up the same place that I got knocked out in. I realized that no time had past it was just a dream.

My Trip to Pompeii
By Sarah
On a cold winter day I was going outside. I got all my stuff on and walked out the door. A flash of light struck upon me . When I opened my eyes I was in a quiet city and I was in Roman clothes. Five minutes later... it was not quiet anymore. A horde of people came up to me telling me facts like Mount Vesuvius is our volcano, when it explodes it covers the whole town with volcanic ash , Mount Vesuvius and Bay of Naples attracts tourist ,our volcano has poisonous vapours and we have about 11,000 people in a different language . I did not know what to say, so I just ran away . I kept running and then I slowed down . I was seeing the most beautiful structure I have ever seen. It had two tall and long columns on the side and and a Roman goddess that I think was Juno . She was made out of marble .
When I saw an home and knocked on the door. Nobody was home i went in and got a good night sleep. As my eyes gently closed my eyes a loud and rambunctious rumble happened. I got up to see what it was but then it rumbled again but it was even harder. I fell on the floor and hit my head hard, I blacked out . When I woke up i saw a red glare out the window i instantly got up to see it. It was lava! I ran outside. It was like a maze I was trying to find my way out .I heard loud crashing from rocks falling. When I was running jars and paintings were getting destroyed . When I got closer to the end of the town I smelled something burning. The lava was right behind me! Lava was coming out of the Volcano like a cheetah running. It smelled like a burning fire and I could feel the heat on my feet it was like burning sand on the beach.
I ran faster and was looking for a shelter I saw a door I ran and grabbed onto the handle the lava caught my shoe. I just left it behind. When I walked in the door a flash caught my eye I held onto the door and when I opened the door I heard my moms voice. Saying Sarah why did you come back in so early ? Then she handed me a hot chocolate . I said but I was running from lava then she said “what it is snow not lava” . Many other times i have visited but the town has been destroyed and I walked around looking at all the houses that have been burned but the door I come through can never be burnt.Ever since then on a snowy day i can visit Pompeii just by walking out my front door .
Agora

“Ugh, I am gonna get you Caroline,” I scream at 8:07 as I am chasing her down the flights of stairs and into the living room. She is on one side of the table and I am on the other side. My stomach is yelling at me, “I’m hungry like a wolf!” So I yell at Caroline,”This is not over!” I struggle to keep my knees from letting go as I trudge down the hall. Wait, let me explain what’s happening, this might be a little confusing.
Today is Saturday, it is the weekend. The weekend is when I get my sleep, well Saturday is when I get my sleep because my parents insist on going to church and leaving forty-five minutes before church starts. Okay, back to the story…
I open the fridge, grab the watermelon, and slowly slice the table knife through the pre-cut watermelon spears. I grab a fork out of the drawer below the coffee maker. I hate the morning, I never am a happy person unless it is about ten thirty. I am sitting in the living room watching “Zoey 101” when Caroline interrupts and whines, “I wanna watch Modern Family!” Ugh! she’s such a baby! When will she learn to be an eight year old! I regretfully change the channel and Caroline screams in excitement. I want to go back to sleep but the sun is shining too brightly to even try to go back to sleep.
I decide to go upstairs and get ready for the day that awaits. I put on my favorite american eagle T-shirt and skinny jeans. I trudged slowly into the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Afterwards, I put my hair back into a french-braid when my mirror opened into a black hole and swallowed me up!
Oh, my gosh; why am I in a agora, with Socrates? Wow, Socrates needs a major makeover. This is why I need sleep I’m hallucinating, i must be, but what if I’m not? Oh, no! I’m actually in the ancient greek agora! This is a disaster. I need to find a way back home because if today was Monday this would be awesome; but this is MY Saturday. I hate that bathroom mirror.
All of the sudden I see the “The Painted Stoa” in the corner of my eye. I decide to ask a Athenian, “What is “The Painted Stoa”?” He replies with a tone of voice that made me feel a little stupid, “Um… it’s the place where people watch sword-swallowers, jugglers, and beggars,” I decided to reply kindly unlike he did, “Thank you for the help!” I wanted to know what time it was just too make sure I wasn’t going to miss MY Saturday. I see in the middle of the courtyard a huge clock that reads: 9:47. Ugh! I missing the new episode of Modern Family! I turn to my left and see a prison, YICKS! that doesn’t look a whole lot of fun. I ask Socrates about the prison and he replies, “What is beauty?” I reply with, “You seem like a very nice person, but you’re getting on my nerves!” He of course replies with, “What is anger?” I storm off with the most common thing I say, “Ugh!”
As I strolled through the agora I saw a very distinct building with beautiful columns in the far left corner. I decided to go and observe what it beheld. As I rolled in I saw a beautiful and detailed well that slaves were pulling buckets full of water out of the well. The well had a marble base and a stone top. There was a vine of roses carved into the base. I thought surely this was a temple for Poseidon, but apparently it wasn’t a slave welcomed me and told me about the water house where the slaves would get water buckets and bring them back to their masters. I decided to take myself on a tour of the water house when a priest screamed some kind of crazy vodu and chased me out of the building. I was so confused that I decided to forget what had just taken place.
I was walking around the agora when suddenly something caught my eye; there was a huge clock that seemed to be draining water out of it too keep the time. I decided to talk to someone about it because I was intrigued. I asked a person who said, “Oh, you’re new! This clock measures time with water. A hour in the winter is only forty-five minutes and the summer hour is seventy-five.” I decided to respond with the ever so common, “Okay,” I decided to just move on because this was so confusing even though we had just finished our Ancient Greece unit in History. The fact that I got a C+ on that test kinda explained why I didn’t understand.
I liked the architecture in the agora so I decided to look at some more. Across the courtyard I saw this beautiful building with inscription that said, “The Painted Stoa.” I thought it was an art museum, but I could not be more wrong! I strolled myself right on in where I saw sword-swallowers, jugglers, beggars and fish-mongers. I decided not to ask questions and just sit, relax and enjoy the show just like the leader of the “circus” said.
After about an hour of watching these amazing people. I figured that there was more too see than just the “circus.” I wandered over to this place that looked like an altar.Inside were twelve golden thrones with perfect humans in them and an thirteenth sitting by a fire. All of a sudden, a tour guide popped in front of my face and said, “Welcome to the temple of the gods, the offering place is too your left and the praying/meditation spot is behind you and to your left. If you just want to know things about this place you're talking too the right person.”
“Okay, well, I think I am going to go home now.”
I decided to find the place where I started out, the center where there is an crystal ball! I ran to the psychic and told her that I wanted to go home and that the crystal ball would open up and suck me in. She didn’t believe me until the crystal ball turned black and created an hole in the ground. I waved and said, “Thanks!” as I jumped on into the black hole.
I woke up when Madi tossed a bucket of water on me because apparently, I had blacked out in the black hole. No time had passed. I really hope that that adventure was just a dream. This was possibly the weirdest Saturday of my life. I really hope that I feel back asleep.
Monday….
It’s weekend highlights. Lindsay is right beside me and I'm freaking out!!! I did not have an normal weekend. UH, OH! It’s my turn what do I say? I went to Greece? No! I can’t say that I will be known as the kid who lied because she had a boring weekend. “I went to church and I slept on Saturday.” Great, now i am the kid who had the boringest weekend highlights ever!
Travel Into History
By: Ronan
I was at my desk, programming, when I needed symbols for a medieval game. It was very hard, but I had found a string of Greek letters I liked.I was about to save it when I noticed something very odd. The picture was not a website, and it had no data or even a url. I thought about this, but I tried importing the picture anyway. It worked, and I ran the program, but the program instantly crashed,my screen went black, and the computer started shaking. I decided not to tell my parents just for now. But I was really scared when a purple fog began billowing from the screen. It spiraled and expanded, and then formed a picture of space in the center. Was it a portal? Was it an anomaly? Was I going crazy? All of these questions were unanswered, and I was utterly clueless.First, I wanted to know where it led. Was it in space? Was it an alternate universe? Should I tell scientists? I was very curious, but I knew I had to remain cautious if I was going to enter the portal. First, I put my head through, and I could not believe what I had seen.Spears were in the muddy dirt, the shafts splintered. Then I noticed bodies littering the ground. I was in an ancient war zone, but what time period was I in? I stepped back out of the portal, then, I put a leg and my head in. That was when my mind was blown. I had a toga on. A toga! Was I in Greece, Rome, Macedonia, or some other country? But that was when I heard a sound like a thousand freight trains stopping. A mighty roar came from in front of me. It was a huge army, charging. It looked like they had giant hair on their helmets when I realized that they were holding a weapon I had seen before. It was even in my game! They were holding eighteen-foot spears. Then, I noticed a crossbow shaped weapon that some held level to their stomach. It was a belly-shooter! I finally noticed a row of super weapon like catapults. They were torsion catapults, the most powerful in all of Greece. I finally noticed the opposing army. It was Athens! I knew that this army was not Spartan, no, definitely not. I felt sick when I realized I was in one of the most dangerous war-zones of all Ancient Greece! It was the fight between King Philip II of Macedonia and Athens. The smell of decay and stink came over me. Those ancient armies didn’t know about bacteria, or even personal hygiene. Then, I heard a mighty rumbling. King Philip’s army charged, and the spears were so long that the Athenians looked like babies trying to reach something behind a wall. They stumbled, then tried to move forward. All of it was unsuccessful. As if the situation wasn’t already dangerous enough, I heard a sound like a huge string being pulled. They were aiming their belly-shooters. I ran and took cover in the dense forest around me, and just in time, too. Arrows made a path behind me, looking like a fence for ants.By now I felt like I was a dead man, but to decrease my chances of surviving, the portal closed! The situation was so bad I thought it couldn’t get any worse. Yet again, I was wrong. A huge sound boomed throughout the land. The soldiers charged as the archers used their belly-shooters to shoot Athenians. Then the sound came. The torsion catapults were loaded with boulders, and they were still life-threatening today. They fired, a sound like a military airstrike would be in movies. There was a whistling sound, but then a series of booming sounds. Dirt shot up like a geyser, and Athenians lay dead. It was a terrible sight. But they were right, the Macedonians were uncivilized. They charged on, and I looked away as they kept going. I felt like I had no choice. I followed them. They were now besieging a kingdom called Byzantium. I remembered this from my history book. The Athenians violated a peace treaty and tried to ally with Byzantium to stop King Philip. They still lost, which was no surprise. There was only one country who never surrendered to him, and that was Sparta. But here and now I was in one of the most decisive battles in Greek history. The battle of Chaeronea. The belly-shooters made the sound again, and they fired. I was scared out of my mind, even frozen in terror when an arrow came at me. This is the end, I thought. But the arrow passed through me and thudded in the ground behind me. Of course! I thought. I was a paradox and non-existent in this time period. I could discover anything. I could to almost anything. I was invulnerable in this time period.I realized what I could do in my time if I discovered the secrets of the Battle of Chaeronea. I could be a great, temporarily immortal historian with access to all of the wonders of the world. I could do anything and make current society benefit from it. But I had to get back home.I compromised as I went up-close and personal with the fight seeing every last detail, noticing how the ancient weapons of war worked. I saw everything for real, not a reenactment or computer generation. I enjoyed seeing this, but I had to get home. After the battle, I saw something terrible, the king was assassinated. I then wandered off, for about four thousand years. I spent my time studying physics and engineering things in my mind. I was almost all-knowing because of my time I spent learning. And I had unraveled the greatest mystery of all, how I got here. The D-flip-flops had accidentally shifted position, forming a special kind of particle accelerator and creating an element that could transport one and replay reality and all of history. I had to build a new kind of particle accelerator, the permanent accelerator, creating a portal I could use all of the time.Once I had made the portal, I used it to travel back home, and not a half-second had passed. I was ecstatic. Now I knew almost every fact ever known by any human. And I wanted humanity to flourish forever.
Time for another adventure.
The Time Travel

One day Anthony and I were having Nerf war in my basement. We were in our bases and both almost out of ammo. He had his last disc. Anthony aimed for my chest and shot. The second the disc hit my chest
POP!!!
I had disappeared.
The screams of rage echoed around me. The air was thick with the smell of blood. Lots of yelling and screaming were coming from outside the weird looking door. I could barely stand up because of the WHAT!! Why do I have armor on!? This is creepy.
When I walk out the door I see people running around with swords. Lions are chasing them until one throws a net over all the lions. “ Thats the end of this round,”booms over the stadium.
Some of the men from the arena walk in the same door I woke up in. When I asked them what was going on they laughed.”This is the Parthenon. We fight for our lives and if we survive four rounds we are let go.” I sat there puzzled but realized that we had been studying this. If I was correct this was an arena of death.
“Next round, everyone get ready.” I wasn't ready. All I had was a knife and a rope. Here goes nothing! “Start!!”. I rush into the stadium, my knife at the ready. A tiger lunges at me but I duck under it and run. Soon half the lions are dead and I am out of breath. The same tiger lunges at me and chomps down on my chest.
POP!!
Suddenly I wake up in my basement in one piece, Anthony sitting next to me.” What happened,” I asked. “ You were asleep for the past twenty minutes,” Anthony told me,” I thought you were crazy. While you were asleep you were screaming and talking. That freaked me out.” “ Lets go get some ice cream,” I told him.

Traveling in the Trojan War
By Anthony
One day when I was waking up from bed, my mom told me you need to clean the windows. I did not want to be bothered at all so I did it anyway. I got the Kleenex and started washing all of the dirt and dust out of the windows. I did not notice the nozzle was backwards and I sprayed myself in the eyes and it burned. I couldn't see at all and all I saw was black.
When I refocused my vision, I noticed I was not in my room. I was in another room I had not seen in my life. I was freaking out. I saw a man walk by and I asked where I was. The man told me I was in Troy. I did not know where Troy was. I said “Where the heck is Troy!” He told me that Troy was in the continent of Europe and the country of Turkey. I wondered how I got to Europe from Orange Virginia. The man told me his name was Franklin. I told him my name. Franklin said “ Are you ready for battle?” “What battle?” Franklin said “ the Trojan War!” ”Isn't that the battle between Troy and Athens?” “Yes it is.” “Right now we get in the humongous horse and we wait because the Athenians will think we surrender.” said Franklin.
Franklin gave me a suit of armor which was really heavy, a sword, and a stone. Franklin told me the stone represented good wealth and luck. Everyone got in the horse and just waited. I accidentally dropped my sword and I thought we were dead meat. Every guard came up to the hose and thought it was a gift from the gods. I thought that stone was working. “ On my mark we charge and remember, we do this for Truva! “ What does that mean?” I asked” “It means Troy in Greek”said Franklin. “Oh” “Ready, 3 2 1 CHARGE” The horse opened its rear and we all charged at once and we attacked. It felt so cool fighting with the Troy warriors but it was sad seeing blood and people dying. I was fighting aside with Franklin but I noticed that we were surrounded by Athenian guards. We did not know what to do they raised their swords. I was so scared that I just fell through the ground. Then I woke up on the ground wondering if I was still alive. I knew that was a dream but I found the rock that Franklin gave me.
