The students will be practicing their map skills which they have been learning about in social studies class.
We are going to review the keys on the keyboard, so students can be more independent when writing on the computer. Click on the image below to get started:
Today students will practice logging in and learn to log out. They will also practice their math by exploring the Free Time page.

Last week in computer class, students made snowflakes. They also wrote snowflake poems in class. This week they will be using Pixie to finish their Snowflake Poems in class. They will be changing the way the "text" looks by changing the font, font color, font style, and font size. Below is an example of what they will be starting with:
Today the students will create a math word problem using Pixie. Next week, they will answer their classmates questions.
We will continue to work with the Investigations in Math Shapes software. Today we will explore Quick Images where students look briefly at an image made up of one to several shapes on the right hand workspace (the image goes away). They then work to build a copy of the image in the workspace on the left hand side.
We will start a unit using the Shapes software provided with the Investigations in Math curriculum. The Shapes software helps children develop their ability to visualize shapes and motions, and the affects of those motions, and to begin to think about the attributes of shapes. Today we will use the Free Explore feature where the students will begin to learn how to: Add shapes, move, flip and turn them, change their color, and erase them. Note: This is not a web application, but rather software that comes with the Investigations Math curriculum which has been installed on the school computers. |
