This week we learned how to respond, "aquí", when our name is called. I also introduced the students to the Basho youtube channel, where students can go to learn more Spanish. This week we watched, sang, and learned greetings of the day:
Through the course of our lessons, students are exposed to ancillary vocabulary in a contextual manner. For example, they hear "A ti te toca" when it is their turn to share something with the class. They hear "gracias/de nada", "hola/adios" and many other Spanish words and phrases. The emphasis is on teaching them to respond in contextual ways, like a reflex, rather than specifically teaching translation skills.
