Masha and the Bear, originally conceived in Russian, then English and here in Spanish. It's a delightful cartoon that students can enjoy at home to increase their input opportunities. Enjoy!

The second grade just performed their play for the school. To extend that learning, We will offer the song as a brain break in our computer activity this week. As a preview activity to a pumpkin patch field trip, today the kindergarten students will use the computers to learn more about the life cycle of pumpkins through videos and interactive activities while practicing their mouse skills. We are reading a bilingual book about APPLES and illustrating some of the Spanish words that we learn
The kindergarten class has been studying about apples in their classroom and recently took a field trip to an apple orchard. Today we will focus on apples, apple trees, and Johnny Appleseed during our computer time by interacting with a variety of videos, activities, and games. We practice our Numbers and Colors using Billiard Marbles.
Students get to hold, touch and examine a single billiard marble displaying a single color and a single number. We recite, show, and view flash cards of COLORS, trying to remember the Spanish word for our color. We recite, show, and view flash cards of NUMBERS, trying to remember the Spanish word for OUR number. Over time and with practice, eventually we can memorize BOTH our color and our number. This week we are reading a dual language book, that is also interactive. Students love, flipping the pages and predicting, and repeating the Spanish words. Enjoy it again at home by clicking on the link below. The kindergarten class is learning about Community Helpers as they prepare to go on a fun field trip. Today they will use the computer lab to see pictures of places in Orange that they will visit during the field trip. They will also choose video links and activities as they learn more about community helpers. They will learn how to adjust the computer volume and change a video to full screen while interacting with these activities.
Today we talked about how computing is like a game of "Simon says". That is, computers do what you command and only what you command, as long as you ask it in the correct way.
We learned about the mouse and made the distinction between "Simon says, touch your mouse!" and "Simon says touch your mouth!" :-) We learned (and practiced) how to right click on the "beach ball" (opening Google Chrome browser) and how to close an active widow by clicking on the "X." We learned (and practiced) how to use the space bar to pause and restart a video. |
